Network Telecom Specialist

We are actively seeking an experienced Network Telecom Specialist to ensure the stable operation of the data and voice communications environment. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network and telecom hardware, software, and communication links. This position analyzes and resolves hardware and software problems timely and accurately and provides end user training as required. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO. 

  • Provide management of the entire network (LAN, WAN, firewall, wireless, Cloud) including best practices, security, installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation required to maintain optimal data and voice network availability and quality of service for business operations.
  • Provide management of the local phone system and connected remote sites including best practices, installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and documentation required to maintain quality of service for business operations.
  • Use system utilities to monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, and latency), adjust system parameters to improve performance and functionality, and test for weaknesses.
  • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, telecom products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Provide hardware and technical guidance to other members of the team.
  • Provide technical support for Help Desk callers and resolve issues as requested.
  • Document system problems and work to resolve and prevent them from reoccurrence. 
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of system administration and maintenance procedures.
  • Keep abreast of current developments in technology to assist management in assessing the future direction for infrastructure technology.
  • Escalate issues to management staff where needed, provide notification to appropriate personnel of systemic operational problems.
  • Represent high level of ethical, intellectual, professional, and personal values that complement the team
  • Promote cooperation within the team and between teams
  • Additional responsibilities and projects as may be assigned relevant to the position

WHAT YOU WILL NEED.

  • University degree in computer science and/or 8 years’ equivalent recent work experience, required
  • Industry certifications, a plus (A+, N+, CCNA and/or CCIE)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing network and telecommunications support
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of network switching and routing, firewall, wireless, LAN and WAN technologies and configurations.
  • Strong working knowledge of phone systems, configuration and maintenance of call center queues, and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to operate effectively in a team environment with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Able to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Able to manage time effectively, set priorities appropriately, and maintain professional demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Conducts herself/himself in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all work-related information
  • Exhibit good work habits and willingness to work extended hours to complete a job when required to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate adaptability to a challenging and developing environment, and willingness to take on new responsibilities as the business evolves
